The purpose of our intended amendments are to update the officer role descriptions and elections process. We have updated the roles to be the following:

Section 4: The officers of IISE Northeastern shall be President, Vice President of Development, Vice President of Operations, Communications Manager,

                     Financial Chair, Professional Relations Chair, Outreach Chair, University Relations Chair, Member Relations Chair, and Skills Development

                     Chair.

 

Section 5: The responsibilities of each office are:

 

        President: Set vision and path for organization, manage executive board, delegate ad hoc responsibilities, and manage relationship with advisor,

        other IISE chapters, and IISE National.

 

        Vice President of Development: Help set vision and path for organization, manage Development team (University Relations Chair, Member         

        Relations Chair, and Skills Development Chair) including: Leading team, managing communication between team and President, elevating any

        issues, and managing logistics of team’s events including tracking information, food, rooms, and advertising.

 

        Vice President of Operations: Help set vision and path for organization, manage Development team (Financial Chair, Professional Relations Chair,

        Outreach Chair) including:Leading team, managing communication between team and President, elevating any issues, and managing logistics of                team’s events including tracking information, food, rooms, and advertising.

 

        Communications Manager: Manage communications with membership (including emails, social media accounts, website, and COE newsletter),        

        and manage e-board information (including taking minutes at each officer meeting and organizing e-board Drive / documentation).

 

        Financial Chair: In charge of finances, fundraising, and attending all Student Activities Business Officer required meetings. May create and hold a

        committee to assist in fundraising efforts.

 

        Professional Relations Chair: Plan and run all events involving industry speakers / tours. May create and hold a committee to help identify

        opportunities and run events.

 

        Outreach Chair: Plan and coordinate outreach initiatives, work with the Center for STEM Education and other community organizations to bring

        industrial engineering activities to the greater Boston community through activities for secondary school students, etc. May create and hold a

        committee to help identify opportunities and run events.

 

        University Relations Chair: Maintain relationship with Northeastern University faculty and staff (initiatives to assist the department, events with

        professors), represent IISE Northeastern at Student Government Association meetings and relay relevant information to the rest of the officers and

        student group. May create and hold a committee to help identify opportunities and run events.

 

        Member Relations Chair: Maintain relationship and organize events with other Northeastern University student groups (including representing

        IISE Northeastern at Student Activities Committee meetings), manage mentoring program, plan and run social events / student perspective events,

        organize activities fairs / other recruitment efforts, lead efforts to acquire member feedback. May create and hold a committee to help identify

        opportunities and run events.

 

        Skills Development Chair: Develop skills development workshop and trainings, identify real-world opportunities for students to learn and apply

        skills. May create and hold a committee to help identify opportunities and run events.

Only students who previously held an officer position within IISE Northeastern may run for the offices of President, Vice President of Development, Vice President of Operations, and Communications Manager. In case no former officers choose to run for these roles, the positions will be open to all voting members.

We have updated the election process for the office of the President to be the following (all other roles remain the same):

The President will be elected by a vote of all current officers who are not running for the office of President. The election of the President will take place at least one day ahead of the election process for the remaining positions.

IISE Northeastern maintains affiliation with the national chapter of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers, as part of the Northeastern Region. IISE Northeastern will continue to hold this affiliation, and ensure that it is meeting all of the requirements to maintain its status as a recognized student chapter of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers.
